Timothy Bottoms
Timothy Bottoms as George W. BushBorn- August 30, 1951
Town- Santa Barbara, California
Notable Films- The Last Picture Show (1971), The Paper Chase (1973), The White Dawn (1974) Invaders From Mars (1986), Rollercoaster (1977), Texasville (1988)We like Timothy Bottoms and have ever since The Last Picture Show. However, none of us could have forseen that he would be on a comedy show lampooning the President of the United States. That's My Bush has gotten a lot of press. But the bumbling antics of the character belie a very serious actor with a great deal of talent.
For example, for something completely different, watch Bottoms in Rollercoaster. It's a marginal suspense film that was filmed in "sensurround". He portrays a maniac bomber who blows up theme park attractions. What's eerie is that his portrayal was not the "over the top" villain seen at the time. His villain was calm, calculating and quite normal-looking. He's not onscreen for very long. But he drives it.
John Housemean's character in The Paper Chase is a tour de force. But you don't get to be a tour de force all on your own. Houseman had to play off someone. That someone was Bottoms.
Yes, we feel that Timothy Bottoms is underrated. We've seen him do straight drama, suspense, and comedy. In our opinion, he's not just another dumb president.
